On April 27th, 2019, Maina Foundation held a 10th anniversary Gala at Rodeph Shalom Hall in New York City. There were over 250 guests, who enjoyed the evening of entertainment, speakers, a silent auction, and dinner. Our President Ms. Alka Shrikhande gave a welcome address followed by our medical advisor Dr. Anitha Srinivasan who presented an engaging talk on the prevalence of breast cancer, current therapies, and Maina Foundation’s ongoing programs. We also had a breast cancer survivor, Dr. Shilpa Thakur, provide a personal account of her journey. Our keynote speaker Mihir Shah, co-founder of ibreast exam and UE Life Sciences, spoke passionately about his breast exam device and collaboration with Maina Foundation. We also had Tom Kelly, a stand-up and web-based comedian, conduct a medical auction. There were several dance performances through the evening, done by local artists skilled in Indian dance.
